Middle East Fiber Cable Manufacturing Co. (MEFC) was established in 1995 and quickly secured a leading position in the manufacture of optical fiber cables across the Gulf and the wider MENA region. To keep pace with market demand and the growing needs of its clients, MEFC expanded its annual production capacity to 36,000 kilometers, making it one of the largest fiber-cable manufacturers in the Middle East.

In 2007, MEFC entered into a partnership agreement with the Japanese company Fujikura, one of the oldest Japanese firms in this field. Over the years, the company has built deep expertise and innovative technical know-how, applying quality-control procedures in line with the standards of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). MEFC has earned a range of credentials from organizations including Telcordia, BSI and Intertek.

MEFC is an approved supplier of fiber cables for Saudi Aramco, SEC, the Saudi National Water Company, all regional telecom operators (STC, Mobily, ITC and Bayanat), most OSP integrators, Kuwait Petroleum Co., Zain Kuwait, Qatar's oil and gas companies, Q-Tel of Qatar, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Algerian Telecom and many others. With an estimated 40% share of the Saudi local and GCC market, it has become the supplier of choice for most local telecom and industrial projects. MEFC has also entered the FTTH market by providing microfibers and pre-connected cables, and is now planning to expand its exports to the GCC and the wider Middle East.
